Rest be assured, though, we have left Zafira, Nasir and all their friends (the zumra, the gang) in a good place. I raced through it in a few days and when I reached the end and found out there wasn’t a third book my heart broke slightly. Here there’s more romance, more intrigue, more politics and more betrayal. In fact, it took everything I loved about the first book and built on it. It was such an exciting read, so when this book popped into my NetGalley box I almost screamed. The prequel was everything you’d ever want in a fantasy or YA novel: romantic, lushly descriptive, inventive and above all fresh. I was waiting for this book to be published as soon as I finished We Hunt the Flame.
